Harbor and home

Representative Text

1 The sailor tossed on the storm swept sea,
Longs for the haven and the headland's lee;
Through fog or gloom he seeks his way
To the port of rest and the shining day.

Chorus:
God is a refuge, forevermore!
God is a refuge forevermore!
Guide us to the harbor,
Guide us to the harbor,
O guide us to the harbor and the deathless shore.

2 The child of God in this storm swept life,
Looks for the haven and the end of strife;
For he steers his bark by the Bible's ray,
And he trust his God as he waits for day. [Chorus]

3 He prays, and works, and his faith is strong,
Harbor is nearing, and he'll not wait long,
For the shining gates he can almost see,
Of the holy home where he longs to be. [Chorus]

4 The day is near of the saints' release;
All storms will cease in that port of peace:
And sin and sorrow shall be no more,
In the deathless home on the other shore. [Chorus]
