David William Hodges

Translator of "Eu Te Amo, ó Meu Salvador" in Hinário para o Culto Cristão David William Hodges was born in Kansas City, Missouri, December 22, 1942. He has music degrees (B.A., M.A. in voice) from Central Missouri State College (Warrensburg, MO) and a Master's degree in religious education from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Kansas City, MO) and studied in the doctoral program at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Fort Worth, TX). After serving several churches in Missouri, Florida and Texas, he and his family were appointed as missionaries to Brazil under the Foreign (now International) Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. They served from 1980 until retirement in 2010, principally as a professor of voice and conducting in three different Baptist seminaries. He was a member of the hymnal committee that produced the O Hinario para o Culto Cristao in 1991, which contains several of his original hymns (music and lyrics) and translations. 1917 - 1994 Translator of "Te Amo" in Himnario Bautista Born: January 4, 1917, Managua, Nicaragua. Died: April 1, 1994, Texas. Pseudonyms: Daniel R. Diaz Pablo Filós Robleto attended the Colegio Bautista in Managua (graduated 1940), and the Baptist Seminary in New Orleans, Louisiana, and pastored churches in Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Texas. He also directed the Department of Administration of Churches and Pastoral Leadership, edited The Christian Home for the Casa Bautista de Publicaciones, and translated about 200 hymns from English to Spanish. Barbara Woollett

b. 1937 Paraphraser of "How Blest Are the People" in The Worshiping Church Barbara Woollett-- Born on 30 January 1937 in Southampton, where she has lived ever since. Educated at Sholing Secondary School for Girls; married David Woollett, an engineer; they have three children and six grandchildren. She has been a full-time housewife and mother, a volunteer ward assistant in a large city hospital, and a mature student for a GCSE in Drama, as well as being active in a local amateur dramatic group. She is a member of the Jubilate Group. She has written several hymn texts, Psalm versions and other verses. Publications featuring her work include Church Family Worship (1988); Come, Rejoice (1989); Songs from the Psalms (1990); Psalms for Today (1990) which has four of her paraphrases; "Let's Praise" 2 (1994); "Sing Glory" (1999); and "Praise!" (2000). Appearing in several books are her versions of Psalm 13, "How long, O Lord, will your forget an answer to my prayer"; and Psalm 84, "How lovely is your dwelling-place, O Lord most high".
