12334. A Starless Crown

1 There is a land mine eyes shall see
When I shall lay life’s armor down;
But all its bliss is not for me,
If I must wear a starless crown.

Refrain:
A starless crown when life is done?
No glittering gems which I have won?
Forbid it, Lord, that there should be
A starless crown in Heav’n for me.

2 The gains of earth are all but loss,
Eternal joys are all for me
When I by faith uplift the cross,
And lead one soul, dear Lord, to Thee. [Refrain]

3 Forbid it, Lord, that I should be
Content to live for self alone;
O may some soul I win for Thee
Adorn my crown when life is done. [Refrain]
