Download hymns/hymnals?

You are here

Thank you, Hymnary devs, for creating such a great resource! Is there a way to download all the songs for a hymnal? I'd like to start using OpenLP, but its missing a lot of music. I see references in prior forum posts about a CSV Export funtion, but I'm not seeing that anywhere on the site (maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places?)

FWIW, we use the Celebration Hymnal.

Thanks for your help,
Ben

There is a link to the CSV dump of the database under the Explore icon, but it is limited to 5000 lines and it will not give you a specific hymnal. We can send you the hymnal data spreadsheet on request. I do not think that I can add an attachment to the contact form, so lick on the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of our page.

I am looking for notes and lyrics to a song "where you gonna hide"

Regards

It doesn't appear that the song in question has been indexed here. It may not have appeared in a hymnal (yet). I haven't seen sheet music (notes) for this anywhere, but other websites suggest that these are more or less the lyrics you're looking for:

When time on earth will be no more
When the saints go marching through heavens door
Where you gonna hide, oh sinner where you gonna hide
When Lord the savior will call your name
Where you gonna hide your face In shame
Where you gonna hide, oh sinner where you gonna hide

Where you gonna hide, oh sinner where you gonna hide
Will you let the Lord your savior be your guide
When Christ the savior says well done
Has your soul the devil won
Where you gonna hide, oh sinner where you gonna hide

Oh sinner won't you kneel with us and pray
Won't you walk the straight and narrow way
Where you gonna hide, oh sinner where you gonna hide
When all of God's children go marching in
Will your soul be lost in sin
Where you gonna hide, oh sinner where you gonna hide

Where you gonna hide, oh sinner where you gonna hide
Will you let the Lord your savior be your guide
When Christ the savior says well done
Has your soul the devil won
Where you gonna hide, oh sinner where you gonna hide

hi,

I think I found this function in the past, becaue i populated a table with all hymns titles of a certain hymnal, but I can't remember how I did it or find it again, If that's possible, please advise.

thanks, Alex

Hi,

Yes, you should find an index box on a hymnal page. Select any index, such as first lines, scroll down to the bottom of the page of results, and click on "Export as CSV"

Thank you!

It doesn't seem possible to add the Hymnal 1940 to "My Hymnals".  Can that be changed?  My church still uses that hymnal.   Thanks.

It worked for me to add “Hymnal 1940” to “My Hymnals” so it should work for you. You will need to be logged in. I searched for the hymnal (HEPC1940) and then clicked the link found under the Index box that says “Add to my hymnals”
