Go Up to the Help of the Lord

1 Ye people, away,
Nor talk of delay,
The time for exertion is come;
The summons is given,
The Lord calls from heaven,
Let no man now tarry at home.

2 The Lord in his might,
Is gone to the fight,
And if we should shrink from the toil,
The day will be won,
The work will be done,
And others will gather the spoil.

3 And should we decline,
His standard to join,
Our slackness will meet its reward;
A wo they will find,
Who tarry behind,
Nor go "to the help of the Lord."

4 Then cast off delay,
"To arms," and away;
To arms--'tis the Lord gives the word:
With sword and with shield,
Away to the field;
Away "to the help of the Lord."
