Representative Text

1 Within Thy gates of peace,
O city, fair to see,
Our feet from wand’ring soon shall cease,
And find a rest in Thee.

Refrain:
O jewel-walled Jerusalem!
With pearly gates thrown wide,
How gladly shall we enter in,
And evermore abide.

2 Beyond Thy jasper wall
What glory there awaits
For those who, at the Father’s call,
With joy approach Thy gates! [Refrain]

3 Upon Thy streets of god
Our toil-worn feet shall stand;
Nor pleasures fade, nor joys grow old,
Within that peaceful land. [Refrain]

4 Free from each earthly wile,
Our feet no more shall roam;
And, best of all, a Saviour’s smile
Will be our welcome home. [Refrain]
