When the call rings out through the

Representative Text

1 When the call rings out thro’ the whole wide land,
Will you follow in His way?
Pledging heart and hand for His cause to stand,
Ready ever to obey?

Refrain:
When the call rings out will you be ready?
When the call rings out will you be true?
Glad to take your part with a willing heart,
Will you be ready when He calls for You?

2 When the call rings out will you take your place
With the workers side by side?
Going forth each day in a joyful way,
Where the Lord himself doth guide? [Refrain]

3 When the call rings out will you answer “yes,”
To the loving heav’nly Friend?
In his footsteps tread who is just ahead,
Till you reach your journey’s end?

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
