Representative Text

1 We wonder why the leaves must fall,
Why joy-birds fly beyond recall;
Why shadows drift across the sky,
We wonder why, we wonder why.

Refrain:
O wonder not, but trust it all,
To Him who notes the sparrow’s fall;
In His bright home beyond the sky,
He’ll tell us why, He’ll tell us why.

2 We wonder why the roses fade,
Why storms should sweep the sunny glade;
Why blossoms sweet should droop and die,
We wonder why, we wonder why. [Refrain]

3 We wonder why our hearts are torn,
And why for loved ones we must mourn;
Why dearest friends must say good-by,
We wonder why, we wonder why. [Refrain]
