Representative Text

1 We shall see our Saviour’s face,
When he comes by and by;
We shall praise him for his grace,
When he comes by and by.

Refrain:
Follow Jesus, follow on,
Follow till we reach our home;
By and by we will see Jesus,
When he comes by and by.

2 We shall stand before the King,
When he comes by and by;
And the new, new song we’ll sing,
When he comes by and by. [Refrain]

3 We shall wear a starry crown,
When he comes by and by;
By his side we shall sit down,
When he comes by and by. [Refrain]

4 From all earthly cares we’ll rest,
When he comes by and by;
We shall lean upon his breast,
When he comes by and by. [Refrain]

5 Then no more our tears will fall,
When he comes by and by;
Doubts and fears no more appall,
When he comes by and by. [Refrain]

Johnson Oatman, Jr., son of Johnson and Rachel Ann Oatman, was born near Medford, N. J., April 21, 1856. Outside of the usual time spent in the public schools, Mr. Oatman received his education at Herbert's Academy, Princetown, N. J., and the New Jersey Collegiate Institute, Bordentown, N. J. At the age of nineteen he joined the M.E. Church, and a few years later he was granted a license to preach the Gospel, and still later he was regularly ordained by Bishop Merrill. However, Mr. Oatman only serves as a local preacher. For many years he was engaged with his father in the mercantile business at Lumberton… Go to person page >
