Representative Text

1 Watch, brethren, watch!
The year is dying;
Watch, brethren, watch!
Old Time is flying;
Watch as ye watch the parting breath,
And as ye watch for life or death;
Eternity is drawing nigh,
Eternity, eternity.

2 Pray, brethren, pray!
The sands are falling;
Pray, brethren, pray!
God’s voice is calling;
Yon turret strikes the dying chime;
We kneel upon the edge of time;
Eternity is drawing nigh,
Eternity, eternity.

3 Praise, brethren, praise!
The skies are rending;
Praise, brethren, praise!
The fight is ending;
O see, the glory cometh near,
The King Himself will soon be here;
Eternity is drawing nigh,
Eternity, eternity.
