Representative Text

1 Vinde, ó santos, sem medo ou temor;
Mas alegres, andai,
Rude é o caminho ao triste viajor,
Mas com fé caminhai.
É bem melhor encorajar
E o sofrimento amenizar;
Podeis agora em paz cantar:
Tudo bem! Tudo bem!

2 Por que dizeis: É dura a provação?
Tudo é bom, não temais.
Por que pensais em grande galardão,
Se a luta evitais?
Mas não deveis desanimar
Se tendes Deus para vos amar;
Podeis agora proclamar:
Tudo bem! Tudo bem!

3 Sem aflição, em paz e sem temor,
Encontramos um lar.
Hoje, libertos do pesar e dor,
Vamos todos cantar.
Partindo de nosso coração
Bem alto e com resolução,
O nosso glorioso refrão:
Tudo bem! Tudo bem!

4 Chegando a morte, tudo irá bem,
Vamos paz todos ter.
Livres das lutas e dores também,
Com os justos viver
Mas se a vida Deus nos poupar
Bem alto poderemos cantar,
A uma só voz entoar:
Tudo bem! Tudo bem!

In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries. Go to person page >

Tune

ALL IS WELL (White)

Credited to C. Dingley in Revival Melodies (1842), before appearing in The Sacred Harp (1844), attributed to J.T. White. The editors of The Makers of the Sacred Harp (2010) consider White to be the arranger, not the composer; Dingley is perhaps also just an arranger. —Chris Fenner
