Representative Text

1 Turn up your lamp; let it shine on the way
Trodden by pilgrims oft tempted to stray;
Show them the pitfalls and dangers that wait;
Turn up your lamp, lest you warn them too late.

Refrain:
Turn up your lamp! Let your light shine!
Darkness will vanish from your life and mine;
Turn up your lamp! Let your light shine!
Two lives will brighten with glory divine.

2 Turn up your lamp; let is shine upon those
Out in the darkness beset by their foes;
Never upon them the glory has shown;
Turn up your lamp till it beckon them on. [Refrain]

3 Turn up your lamp, and your own life will glow,
Safer henceforth be the way that you go,
Stronger the faith that another has stayed,—
Turn up your lamp, lest it flicker and fade. [Refrain]
