Marot, Samuel, D.D., was born at Magdeburg, Dec. 11,1770, and studied at the University of Frankfurt a. Oder. On July 1, 1798, he was ordained as preacher to the Orphanage (Friedrichs-Waisenhaus) at Berlin. In 1808 he was appointed preacher at the Neue Kirche; in 1816 superintendent of the Reformed Churches in Berlin; and also became Consistorialrath in 1830, and Oberconsistorialrath in 1846 (D.D. from University of Berlin, 1846). He died at Berlin, Oct. 12, 1865 (Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie, xx. 404, &c). He was one of the Committee which compiled the Berlin Gesang-Buch, 1829.
