Representative Text

1 Though o’er the earth you may wander afar,
Ever for you are the pearl gates ajar;
Press on with hope, and though far you may roam,
Trust in Jesus, and you’ll get home.

Refrain:
No matter, brother, where you may roam,
Trust in Jesus, and you’ll get home;
You’ll get home, you’ll get home,
Trust in Jesus, and you’ll get home.

2 Many the foes that would lure you away,
Many the paths that would lead you astray;
Think of that land far above yonder dome,
Trust in Jesus, and you’ll get home. [Refrain]

3 Think of that home Christ hath gone to prepare,
Think of the friends now awaiting you there,
Think of that meeting far over the foam,
Trust in Jesus, and you’ll get home. [Refrain]

4 Though He may lad where the deep waters flow,
Though all along may be sorrow and woe,
List to the voice that is calling you “come,”
Trust in Jesus, and you’ll get home. [Refrain]

At the age of nineteen he joined the M.E. Church, and a few years later he was granted a license to preach the Gospel, and still later he was regularly ordained by Bishop Merrill. However, Mr. Oatman only serves as a local preacher. For many years he was engaged with his father in the mercantile business at Lumberton… Go to person page >
