Representative Text

1 The last call of mercy now lingers for thee,
O waiting and careless one, haste thee and flee;
Repent and believe, ere the harvest is past,
The call oft repeated is closing at last.

Refrain:
The last call of mercy, O turn not away,
But hasten and welcome the Savior today.

2 He called by the sermons where Sabbath light gleamed,
He called by the pleadings of God’s own redeemed,
He called while the family altar’s light burned,
He called, but his love thou hast cruelly spurned. [Refrain]

3 The Sabbath is ended, the sermon is done,
God’s last loving message has come to some one,
But Christ in his mercy still knocks at the door,
O welcome him now, or there’s pardon no more. [Refrain]

4 Escape for thy life, from the dark mountain, fly,
The angel of mercy is now passing by;
There’s safety, and pardon, and refuge for all,
Then slight not this warning, ‘tis mercy’s last call. [Refrain]
