Representative Text

1 The friends we have trusted may turn us away,
The lips that have praised us may blame;
But there is one friend who will never betray,
For Jesus is ever the same.

Refrain:
Ever the same, ever the same,
Jesus is ever the same;
Ever the same, ever the same,
Yes, Jesus is ever the same.

2 The hopes that we cherish may prove to be vain,
And perish the joys that we claim;
But there is a promise that still will remain,
For Jesus is ever the same. [Refrain]

3 The beautiful morning a tempest may bring,
And lightnings about us may flame;
But, certain as winter is followed by spring,
The Savior is ever the same. [Refrain]

4 Then let us in gladness obey His commands,
His love and His goodness proclaim;
The King of all kingdoms and Lord of all lands
Is ever and ever the same. [Refrain]
