Sing, gladly, sweetly sing

Representative Text

1 Sing gladly, sweetly sing;
Join in praises one and all,
And Christ's dear name with reverence call;
Our prophet, priest and King,
For the blessings of the year,
Showered us our happy land,
By His most loving, gracious hand,
We now are gathered here.

Chorus:
Sweet the notes of praise,
Listening angels hear the song,
Children's voices raise,
Full and tender, clear and strong.
An anthem of our love,
Send the song from shore to shore,
And praises, praises, evermore,
Our hearts with rapture move.

2 For friends whose tender care,
Gently guards our onward way,
Our Lord we give thee thanks to-day,
In song and humble prayer,
Thy love is ever kind,
Thoughtful of thy children here;
And knows each woe and sees each tear,
Thine eyes are never blind. [Chorus]

3 And then the ransom given,
Freely unto ev'ry one,
That by the dying of the Son,
Will lead us home to heaven,
It frees our souls from wrong,
Crowns our brows with fadeless light,
And now for this our hope most bright,
We come with prayer and song. [Chorus]
