Representative Text

1 Ring, bells of heaven, sweet and clear,
A son comes home from wilds of sin;
Sound forth the joy notes far and near,
Swing wide the portal, let him.

Refrain:
Ring, bells of heaven,
Ring forevermore!
Ring, bells of heaven
Ring from shore to shore!
Ring, a happy welcome raise!
Ring, a joyful peal of praise!
Wand’rers are coming home,
Ring, thro’ endless days.

2 Ring, bells of heaven, loud and long,
Let joy abound on ev’ry hand;
Each voice break forth in sweetest song,
To welcome one from alien land. [Refrain]

3 Ring, bells of heaven, chime on chime,
Till all yon highest arches swell!
This is a holy, happy time,
Since safe the wand’rer, all is well. [Refrain]

4 Ring, bells of heaven! ne’er be dumb,
But ring your notes unceasingly,
Till ev’ry child shall homeward come,
And till the last enslaved is free. [Refrain]
