Representative Text

1 Out in the glow of the sunshine,
Under the blue of the sky,
Ring the sweet voices of children
As the bright moments pass by;
God, looking down from His heaven,
Hears the glad song that they sing,
“Praises be now and forever
Unto our glorious King.”

Refrain:
Hosanna! Hosanna! O joyfully swells the refrain;
Hosanna! Hosanna! It echoes o’er mountain and plain,
Hosanna! Hosanna! Rings up to the blue of the sky;
All glory and praise forever, to God, to God most high.

2 Where the white daisies are nodding
Over the meadows so gay,
Beauty around and about them,
Come the dear children today;
Bringing their gifts with rejoicing,
Flowers dew-laden and sweet,
Hearts full of love to the Saviour,
Laying them all at His feet. [Refrain]

3 Out in the glow of the sunshine,
Marching so gaily along,
Waking the silvery echoes,
Hasting with jubilant song,
Comes the glad army of children,
Waving their banners on high,
Praises like incense, ascending
Up to the radiant sky. [Refrain]

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
