Once a Leper

Representative Text

1 Once a leper came to Jesus,
full of sores and sin and shame,
Seeking cleansing, seeking healing,
trusting in His pow'r he came;
"If Thou wilt," he said to Jesus,
"Thou, I know, canst make me clean,"
And the Saviour reached and touched him,
saying, "I will, be thou clean."

Refrain:
'Tis My will, O be thou clean,
'Tis My will, O be thou clean;
I have come to heal and bless thee,
Come to bear thy sin and pain,
Come to bring thee full salvation,
'Tis My will, O be thou clean.

2 So 'twill be with you, O sinner,
tho' a wretch so vile you be;
If you'll come right on to Jesus,
His salvation you shall see;
By His pow'r and blood He'll cleanse you,
taking all your guilt away.
Do you not desire this cleansing?
Look to Jesus, then, today. [Refrain]

3 So with you and me, my brother,
if uncleanness dwell within,
Jesus' blood not only covers
but it washes out all sin;
And His Spirit's pow'r will keep us,
'tis His will that it be so
He has died to sanctify us,
this the Bible makes us know. [Refrain]

4 If you bring Him your diseases
as this leper did of yore,
He will touch you with His power,
giving you a perfect cure;
Do not falter, come and ask Him,
He will surely heed your cry,
Come and cast your burden on Him
even while He is so nigh. [Refrain]
