Graça Sublime

Representative Text

1 Oh! Sublime graça do Senhor,
Um perdido Ele salvou;
Eu estava cego e a luz me mostrou,
Da morte me livrou.

2 Tua graça me ensinou temer,
Meu temor aliviou;
Quão preciosa a mim devia ser,
Na hora em que me salvou.

3 Batalhas mil eu enfrentei,
Jesus comigo está;
Com Sua graça salvo velejei,
E ao céu me conduzirá.

4 Em todo instante, proteção,
O melhor deu a mim;
Sua voz será minha porção,
Até da vida o fim.

5 Falhando a carne e o coração,
E a vida mortal ter fim,
Sei que eu terei o meu galardão,
Alegria eterna a mim.

6 O mundo em neve derreter,
O sol a obscurecer;
Bem breve na terra eu vou ser,
Com Cristo vou viver.

7 Ansiamos Contigo habitar,
Com o sol a brilhar;
Sem fim os dias são e a Jesus vou louvar,
Quando eu for lá morar.

In 1754 he gave up the slave trade and, in association with William Wilberforce, eventually became an ardent abolitionist. After becoming a tide… Go to person page >
