Translator (English): Esther Bergen

Esther Bergen was born on June 18, 1921 in Mor­den, Man­i­to­ba, Can­a­da. She was the daughter of a Mennonite minister and graduated from the Men­non­ite Col­lege In­sti­tute in Gret­na, Man­i­to­ba. After teaching in several rural schools, she attended the Men­non­ite Breth­ren Bi­ble Col­lege in Win­ni­peg. She taught mu­sic at the Men­non­ite Breth­ren Bi­ble Col­lege, and served as Dean and Re­gis­trar at the Ca­na­di­an Men­non­ite Bi­ble Col­lege. She al­so worked as a mis­sion­a­ry in Mex­i­co with her hus­band, Men­no Ber­gen (1956-68). She trans­lat­ed some 150 hymns, and com­posed sev­eral hymn tunes.
