Representative Text

1 Not by works of righteousness that you and I have done,
Not by any merits of our own,
But only by His grace, His grace, our heav’nly Father’s grace;
He saves us by believing on His Son.

Refrain:
By grace, by grace are ye saved,
And that not of yourselves;
It is the gift, the gift of God,
It is the gift of God.

2 Once in sin and tresspasses both you and I were dead,
Walking in the spirit of the world;
But grace so freely, freely giv’n, hath quickened us in Christ,
Who saved us by the precious blood He shed. [Refrain]

3 Tell it out in joyfulness, O tell it out in praise,
Glorifying God and blessing men;
That others by His grace, His grace, God’s more abounding grace,
May join the hallelujah that we raise. [Refrain]
