1 Min Jesus, Grund til al vor Lyst,
Og Frydens rette Sæde,
Hvad klemmer dog dit milde Bryst,
Du hele Verdens Glæde?
Hvad er det for en bitter Ting,
Der gjør dig Hjerte-Stød og Sting,
At du saa dybt maa sukke?

2 Du ser Guds Villede er skjændt,
Som var i Sjælen inde,
Det Lys, deri af Gud var tændt,
Du kan ei mere finde;
Det Mesterstykke af Guds Haand,
Vor Tunge, ser du nu i Baand,
Af Synd og Satan lænket.

3 Men du gaar midt paa Pladsen ind,
Blandt dem, der lide ilde,
Og aabner med forgtynget Sind
Dit Hjertes Naadekilde.
Det Suk, man af dig høre fik,
Ind for os i Guds Hjerte gik,
Hans Kjærlighed at finde.

4 O Frelser, lad dig "Effata!"
Min Mund og Hjerte røre,
Saa skal du et Halleluja
Af begge faa at høre!
O, at dit Broder-Hjerte maa
I al vor Nød os aabent staa,
Da kan os intet fattes!

5 Naar Døden i min sidste Stund
Vil Mund og Mæle lukke,
Da fyld mit ganske Hjertes Grund
Med himmeltrængend' Sukke!
Før selv for Thronen mine Ord,
Og Sjælen ind i Englekor,
Hvor alle Suk har Ende!
