Loyalty to the king

Representative Text

1 Loyalty to Christ forever joyfully now we sing;
Serving him with true endeavor love we bring;
Yielding full and glad allegiance, following him each day,
Safely with our Captain will we go alway.

Refrain:
“Loyalty!” joyfully now we sing,
Full allegiance give to him forever,
Loyalty unto the Christ our King!
Serving him with true endeavor.

2 Forward with his banner flying, shouting the battle song,
On his promises relying, brave and strong;
Happy in his royal service, doing his holy will,
Living as he bids us, his commands fulfill. [Refrain]

3 Loyalty to Christ confessing, telling his pow’r and might,
Holding fast his hand of blessing, day and night,
In his precious name most glorious striving some soul to win,
Driving from their strongholds all the hosts of sin. [Refrain]

Author: Lizzie DeArmond

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
