Long I was a wanderer

Representative Text

1 Long was I a wand'rer,
Jesus now is mine;
Yes, I've found a Savior,
Human and divine,
High He lives in glory,
Low to earth He came,
Told the wondrous story,
Life in Jesus' name.

Chorus:
Then praise the Lord, my Savior,
Oh, praise His holy name;
I'll sing His praise forever,
For I am born again.

2 Equal with the Father,
Poor like man on earth,
Mighty as Creator,
Weak as babes at birth;
Hated and rejected,
Crucified to die;
Buried, ris'n, ascended,
Pleads my cause on high. [Chorus]

3 "I will ne'er forsake thee,"
Thus His promise stands;
"In my hands I'll bear thee
O'er the burning sands."
Full on Him relying,
Weakness is my strength;
Waiting, toiling, dying,
Heav'n is mine at length. [Chorus]

4 Sweet, oh, sweet the service,
Which to Him I give;
Hearken--come, dear sinner,
Now my soul doth live.
Taste the precious Savior--
Feel the joy divine;
Know the love unbounded,
Jesus now is mine. [Chorus]
