Representative Text

1 Live for the Lord who loves you so,
Happy and glad where’er you go;
Let your life shine each passing day,
Cheering some comrade on the way.

Refrain:
Shine out, shine out!
Loving service to the dear Lord give;
Shine out, shine out!
Show the Christ in Just the way you live.
Shine out, shine out!
For the sake of those you meet each day;
Be loyal and true, souls are looking to you;
Shine out for Jesus alway.

2 Faithfully walk thro’ life’s long ways,
Not for the sake of earthly praise;
Looking to him who hears each cry,
Striving the Lord to glorify. [Refrain]

3 Let your life shine right where you stand,
Waiting with joy your King’s command;
Then when his voice is truly heard,
Ready to do his blessed word. [Refrain]

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
