My Humble Prayer

Representative Text

1 Life is like a mighty ocean,
Where the foamy billows play.
Then may rise a raging tempest,
Turn the azure skies to grey;
Waves of fear and desperation
In the waters round me flow,
So I turn to Thee, dear Jesus,
For I know you love me so.

Refrain:
In my prayer, Thy tender mercy
Reaches down to comfort me,
While I'm kneeling and confessing
True love holds me close to Thee;
Thanking Thee for all the blessings
Thou has given me to share,
Peace beyond all understanding,
Always fills my spirit, my humble prayer

2 Once I was in utter darkness,
Tired and weary of the scene.
Problems of each day would haunt me,
Without Thee on whom to lean;
Then I heard the joyous message
Of salvation full and free,
Trusting in Thy word, dear Savior,
A new life was born in me. [Refrain]

3 Could I help but praise Thee, Shepherd,
Thou will lead me to the fold,
Where Thy beauties reign forever,
Heav'nly streets are made of gold;
In Thy service in the vineyard,
I must work along the way,
Others then may know the glories
To be granted on that day. [Refrain]
