Foll'wing in His footsteps we can never stray;
Sometimes on the mountain, sometimes in the vale,
Onward, ever trusting love which cannot fail.

Journeying with Jesus, ever near His side,
Walking in the pathway where our Lord doth guide;
Singing as we travel to our home above,
Trusting in His mercy, resting in His love.

2 Journeying with Jesus, in the heart a song,
Never in His presence can the road seem long;
Listening to His counsel, tender, kind, and true,
Keeping near the Master all the journey through. [Refrain]

3 Journeying with Jesus, all along the way,
Sorrows are forgotten, night is turned to day;
Resting on the promise, leaning on His arm,

C. Louise Bell, also known a Birdie Bell, was born, raised and lived in New York city. She began writing hymns when she was sixteen years old. She is the author of more than 500 hymns, 200 religious poems, and 200 Christmas and Easter lyrics, as well as short stories, and articles. She wrote under the name of Birdie Bell, which is what her family called her.
