Representative Text

1 I’ve read in His Word of the mansions most fair,
Where those who are faithful shall be,
That Jesus my Saviour has gone to prepare,
The home that is promised to me.

Refrain:
O that beautiful home, that wonderful home,
Where Jesus, my Saviour I’ll see,
In glory above prepared by His love,
The home that is promised to me.

2 No matter what trials may trouble and fret,
From earth and its cares I’ll be free,
For “God’s in His heaven,” He will not forget,
The home that is promised to me. [Refrain]

3 Tho’ all so unworthy, I know it is sure
That where He is I too shall be,
‘Tis worth ev’ry hardship that here I endure,
The home that is promised to me. [Refrain]

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
