1 In the city built on high,
Joy is coming by and by,
To the faithful as they listen
To the calling of the roll.
When glad angels read the name,
Of each saved one who can claim,
An inheritance with Spirits
By the Lamb made pure and whole.

2 Are we numbered now with those,
Who the pow’rs of sin oppose,
Till our Lord shall reign triumphant,
And all yield to His control?
If we serve Him truly here,
With His own we shall appear,
When His followers assemble,

3 May we gain the great reward,
Of a toiler for the Lord,
And forever in His kingdom,
With the blest His name extol.
With our earthly labor done,
And the life eternal won,
May we meet with joy up yonder,
