Representative Text

1 In my work, whate’er it be,
Ever keep me near the cross!
Whatsoe’er it bringeth me,
Ever keep me near the cross!

Refrain:
Near the cross! near the cross!
When angry billows toss,
That my soul may fear no loss,
Ever keep me near the cross!

2 If my talents be out few,
Ever keep me near the cross!
I must all my duty do,
Ever keep me near the cross! [Refrain]

3 Reaping grain, or sowing seed,
Ever keep me near the cross!
Still my Saviour’s grace I need,
Ever keep me near the cross! [Refrain]
