Representative Text

1 I’m seeking that beautiful city,
So oft in the bible foretold,
Where sorrow and death cannot enter
The beautiful city of gold.
I’m seeking that city, that city of gold,
So oft in the bible foretold,
Where sorrow and death cannot enter
That beautiful city of gold.

2 I’m seeking that beautiful city,
Where saints in their blessedness dwell;
Where never a teardrop has fallen,
And never a word of farewell.
I’m seeking that city, that city of gold,
So oft in the bible foretold,
Where never a teardrop has fallen,
And never a word of farewell.

3 I’m seeking that beautiful city,
So free from all danger and strife,
The city with lasting foundation,
That stands by the river of life.
I’m seeking that city, that city of gold,
So oft in the bible foretold,
The city with lasting foundation,
That stands by the river of life.

4 I’m seeking that beautiful city,
Where children angelic abide;
The peaceful and blest habitation,
The city that’s over the tide.
I’m seeking that city, that city of gold,
So oft in the bible foretold,
The peaceful and blest habitation,
The city that’s over the tide.
