Representative Text

1 I will give to the Lord with a loving heart
All the gold of my mind’s best treasure;
I can never repay half the debt I owe
For his blessings in boundless measure.

Refrain:
I will give to the lord my money,
I will give to the Lord my time;
All my talents, my strength, all my soul, my life,
I will give for his cause sublime.

2 All my gifts, keeping none for a selfish aim,
For his glory each day displaying,
In his cause most sublime, in his service sweet,
Life and soul on his altar laying. [Refrain]

3 I will give to the Lord, not a mite withhold,
With a loyal and true endeavor;
What he claims I surrender to him alone,
Lay it down at his feet forever. [Refrain]

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
