Representative Text

1 I never am weary of Jesus,
Sweet peace doth His promise afford;
In times of distress and temptation,
A refuge I find in the Lord.

Refrain:
I never am weary of Jesus,
My wonderful, glorious friend;
His goodness and love so unfailing
Shall follow me on to the end.

2 He knows when my cross is too heavy,
And calls from His Heaven above;
"Fear not, for My grace is sufficient,
O trust in My infinite love!" [Refrain]

3 I never am weary of Jesus,
I know that the Christ is within;
He brings to me comfort and blessing,
And cleanses my soul from all sin. [Refrain]

4 While following on in His footsteps,
Now glory illumines my way;
His voice is the sweetest of music,
And dearer He grows every day. [Refrain]

Author: Lizzie De Armond

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
