Representative Text

1 I love to tell the story,
How Christ the King of glory,
Let heav’n above to come and rescue me;
For sinners He receives them,
His blood was shed to save them—
So Jesus died for sinners like me.

Refrain:
Yes, yes, yes, O yes,
Jesus died to set poor sinners free.
You say, “How do I know it?”
John three sixteen will show it;
That big word “whosoever” just means me.

2 So now I’ll try to please Him,
My life I’ll give to serve Him;
His true and faithful servant I will be.
And when called home to glory,
I’ll sing the good old story,
That Jesus died for sinners just like me. [Refrain]

3 Then, brother, won’t you love Him?
And, sister, won’t you trust Him?
I know He died for you as well as me:
We need our sins forgiven
That we may go to heaven
To live with Christ who died for you and me. [Refrain]
