Representative Text

1 I know not now what perils lie
Along my way,
What griefs may shadow by and by,
Life’s sunny day;
But this sweet hope is ever mine,
Howe’er it be,
About me mercy’s light shall shine,
God loveth me.

2 I know not where my steps shall stray
Thor’ coming years;
What burdens shall my soul dismay,
What doubts and fears;
But this I know, tho’ dark or bright,
The days may be,
Still clear and true, love’s tender light
Shall shine for me.

3 I know not now what future days
And years may bring,
But joyfully I’ll sing God’s praise
And trusting cling
To His dear hand that guideth me,
He knoweth best;
My Refuge strong, my Hope is He,
In Him I trust.
