Representative Text

1 Hosanna sing to the Lord of creation,
His praises tell who hath brought us salvation;
All his power proclaim, bless his wonderful name,
Jehovah the mighty, he’s ever the same.

Refrain:
We praise thy name, high in glory excelling,
Celestial hosts day and night thy pow’r telling;
Glad hosannas we bring, unto thee praises sing,
We crown thee forever, our Master and Lord, our King.

2 Crown him with song, to his throne worship bringing;
“Immortal Lord,” world to world with joy singing;
Robed in garments of light, in his majesty bright,
Extol him confessing his wisdom and might. [Refrain]

3 Hosannas bring, crowd his gates with rejoicing,
In loudest strains his eternal love voicing;
He is King evermore, come, behold and adore;
His reign shall be glorious from shore unto shore. [Refrain]

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
