Representative Text

1 Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty,
The praise due His holy name,
Sing unto the Lord with rejoicing,
Who was and is still the same.

Refrain:
O praise Him, the mighty and holy,
O sing of His wonderful grace,
Who reigneth on high in the heavens,
Made bright by His glorious face.

2 Our God will give strength to His people,
And bless them with perfect peace,
His mercy is ever upon us,
His goodness will never cease. [Refrain]

3 Salvation is nigh them that fear Him,
His truth through all ages shall stand,
His righteousness goeth before us,
His glory shall fill the land. [Refrain]

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
