Pour Thy Spirit, Lord, On Me

Representative Text

1 Father, at Thy feet I'm falling,
Break the chains that now are galling,
Answer while to Thee I'm calling;
Pour Thy Spirit, Lord, on me.

Refrain:
Pour Thy Spirit, Lord, upon me,
Make, O make me what I should be;
Keep me pure within, free from inbred sin,
Pour Thy Spirit, Lord, on me.

2 Now while Christ is interceding,
While with Thee I'm humbly pleading,
Give me Lord, what I am needing;
Pour Thy Spirit, Lord, on me. [Refrain]

3 Lord, I will not turn or leave Thee,
Living that I may not grieve Thee,
Now, just now will I receive Thee;
Pour Thy Spirit, Lord, on me. [Refrain]

Outside of the usual time spent in the public schools, Mr. Oatman received his education at Herbert's Academy, Princetown, N. J., and the New Jersey Collegiate Institute, Bordentown, N. J. At the age of nineteen he joined the M.E. Church, and a few years later he was granted a license to preach the Gospel, and still later he was regularly ordained by Bishop Merrill. However, Mr. Oatman only serves as a local preacher. For many years he was engaged with his father in the mercantile business at Lumberton… Go to person page >
