Representative Text

1 Courage, Christian, trust your Savior,
Swift your mission high fulfil,
Pressing on where He commands you,
Glad obey His sov’reign will.

Chorus:
Victory! victory! Send the glorious song on high,
Victory! victory! Shout aloud the battle cry.
All your best to Jesus bring,
O’er the world He reigns as King,
Victory! victory! glad victory by and by.

2 Hail the rising dawn of glory,
Far away the dark clouds fly,
Bear the tidings ever forward,
Fear no foe, for God is nigh. [Chorus]

3 Courage, Christian, in the conflict,
Bravely face the pow’rs of sin,
Wield the Spirit sword almighty,
In the Lord be strong to win. [Chorus]

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
