Representative Text

1 A wonderful Friend has come into my life,
A Friend who is loyal and true;
The joy of His presence a radiance gives
To life, making everything new.

Refrain:
I’m glad, glad, glad in my heart
That Jesus my Friend will be;
I’m glad, glad, glad in my heart
His grace is so full and free;
He died on Calvary,
And His blood is my only plea;
I’m glad, glad, glad in my heart,
Because of His love for me.

2 I know I can trust Him to lead me aright
Through all the long way I may go;
If only I listen whenever He calls,
The path that is best He will show. [Refrain]

3 A wonderful Friend has come into my life!
So loving and gracious is He,
This Jesus, the Savior, who died for my sins,
Whose love is sufficient for me. [Refrain]

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
