A true and worthy soldier of Jesus

Representative Text

1 A true and worthy soldier of Jesus I would be;
My service give to Him who once gave Himself for me;
My trust in Him confiding,
My faith in Him abiding,
In His pavilion hiding,
What have I to fear?

Refrain:
Onward! Forward!
Never lay the armor down,
Onward, forward,
Till we gain the victor’s crown.

2 Tho’ marches may be weary and lengthen day by day;
Tho’ skies be dark and dreary, and rough, sometimes, the way,
On Him for strength relying,
For Him all else denying,
Thro’ Him the foe denying,
What have I to fear? [Refrain]

3 Then onward! Forward ever against the hosts of sin!
With seal undaunted, hasten, the victory to win!
With Calv’ry’s banner o’er me,
And Christ, the Prince of glory,
To lead the way before me,
What have I to fear? [Refrain]
