Representative Text

1 Would we patiently carry the burdens of life,
More trustfully bear its sorrow,
If but a day longer would end earthly strife,
If Jesus were coming tomorrow?

Refrain:
Coming in glory to earth again,
Coming in majesty He shall reign;
Blessèd deliv’rance His people obtain,
When Jesus shall come—some tomorrow.

2 Would we cheerfully work in the Master’s good cause,
More faithfully tell the story,
Upholding the banner of Christ and His cross,
If Jesus were coming tomorrow? [Refrain]

3 Would we turn from the trifles that lure us aside,
Our Guidebook more closely follow,
And seek for the blessing that’s never denied,
If Jesus were coming tomorrow? [Refrain]

4 Let us daily press onward with courage and cheer,
And hope from His promise borrow;
Be watching, and waiting for Him to appear,
Today, or it may be tomorrow. [Refrain]
