In Thee, O LORD, I Put My Trust

Meter: 8.6.8.6 D Appears in 6 hymnals Matching Instances: 1 Lyrics: 1 In Thee, O LORD, I put my trust, shamed let me never be; according to Thy righteousness do Thou deliver me. Bow down Thine ear to me, with speed send me deliverance: to save me, my strong Rock be Thou, and my house of defense. 2 Because Thou art my rock, and Thee I for my fortress take; therefore do Thou me lead and guide, e'en for Thine own name’s sake. And, since Thou art my strength, therefore pull me out of the net, which they in subtlety for me so privily have set. 3 Into Thine hands I do commit my spir't: for Thou art He, O Thou, Jehovah, God of truth, Thou hast redeemed me. Those that do lying vanities regard, I have abhorred: but as for me, my confidence is fixed on the LORD. 4 I’ll Thy mercy greatly joy: for Thou my miseries considered hast; Thou hast my soul known in adversities; and Thou hast not enclosed me within the enemy’s hand; and by Thee have my feet been made in a large room to stand. 5 O LORD, upon me mercy have, for trouble is on me: mine eye, my belly, and my soul, with grief consumed be. Because my life with grief is spent, my years with sighs and groans: my strength doth fail; and for my sin consumed are my bones. 6 I was a scorn to all my foes, and to my friends a fear; and specially reproached of those that were my neighbors near: when they saw me they from me fled. E'en so I am forgot as men are out of mind when dead: I'm like a broken pot. 7 For slanders I of many heard; fear compassed me, while they against me did consult, and plot to take my life away. But as for me, O LORD, my trust upon Thee I did lay; and I to Thee, Thou art my God, did confidently say. 8 My times are wholly in Thine hand: do Thou deliver me from their hands that mine enemies and persecutors be. Thy countenance to shine do Thou upon Thy servant make: unto me give salvation, for Thy great mercies’ sake. 9 Let me not be ashamed, O LORD, for on Thee called I have: let wicked men be shamed, let them be silent in the grave. To silence put the lying lips, that grievous things do say, and hard reports, in pride and scorn, on righteous men do lay. 10 How great’s the goodness Thou for them that fear Thee keep’st in store, and wrought’st for them that trust in Thee the sons of men before! In secret of Thy presence Thou shalt hide them from man’s pride: from strife of tongues Thou closely shalt, as in a tent, them hide. 11 All praise and thanks be to the Lord; for He hath magnified His wondrous love to me within a city fortified. For from Thine eyes cut off I am, I in my haste had said; my voice yet heard’st Thou, when to Thee with cries my moan I made. 12 O love the LORD, all ye His saints; because the Lord doth guard the faithful, and He plenteously proud doers doth reward. Be of good courage, and He strength unto your heart shall send, all ye whose hope and confidence doth on the LORD depend. O Praise the Lord, for He Is Good

Meter: 8.6.8.6 D Appears in 12 hymnals Matching Instances: 1 Lyrics: 1 O praise the LORD, for He is good; give thanks and bless His name; His loving-kindness changes not, from age to age the same. What tongue can tell His mighty deeds, His wondrous works and ways? O who can show His glory forth, or utter all His praise? 2 The LORD will bless and prosper those– yea, blest indeed are they– whose ways are just, who constantly His righteous law obey. O LORD, remember me in grace, let me salvation see; the grace You show unto Your saints, that grace reveal to me. 3 Let me behold Your people's good and in their joy rejoice; with Your triumphant heritage let me lift up my voice. In evil we have gone astray, and sinful is our race; rebelliously our fathers walked forgetful of Your grace. 4 Tho' they rebelled, yet for their help in saving strength He came to make His pow'r almighty known and glorify His name. He brought them safely thro' the sea and overwhelmed their foes; their faith was stirred, and for the time their songs of praise arose. 5 Forgetful soon, they tempted God, nor for His counsel cared; He sent them leanness in their souls, While they earth's bounties shared. Their God and Savior they forgot, their helper and their stay, but Moses sought the promised grace and turned God's wrath away. 6 But they despised the pleasant land, the promised land of God, and tempted Him to make them fall and scattered them abroad. Against His own inheritance the LORD's great wrath arose; His chosen people He condemned to serve their heathen foes. 7 Save us, O LORD, our gracious God, from alien lands reclaim, that we may triumph in Your praise and bless Your holy name. Blest be the Lord, our cov'nant God, all praise to Him accord; let all the people say, "Amen!" Forever praise the LORD.
