1 My mother, o my mother,
What name could sweeter be?
In all the world no other
Is half so dear to me.
Her love and her protection,
Will ever be, I know,
My fondest recollection,
Wherever I may go.

Chorus:
My mother’s words shall guide me,
Her faith shall walk beside me,
What ever may betide me,
Thru years of good or ill.
When doubts and fears o’ertake me,
To hope, her pray’rs shall wake me,
The world may all forsake me,
But mother never will.

2 My mother, o my mother,
What name could sweeter be,
The tempter’s voice to smother,
And right the wrong for me?
Her trust will guide me ever
The way of truth to keep;
God helping me, I never
Will cause her heart to weep. [Chorus]

3 My mother, o my mother,
What name could sweeter be?
From this world to another,
She’s gone awhile from me.
But when in pray’r I’m kneeling,
Her precious mem’ry brings,
To my sad heart the healing
Of unseen angel wings. [Chorus]
