He Liveth Forever!

Author: Franz Michael Franzen, 1772-1847 Meter: 6.5.6.5.6.5.6.5.11.11.10 Appears in 2 hymnals Hymnal Title: Hymnal and Order of Service Lyrics: 1 He liveth forever! There's light o'er the grave: Fulfilled hath the Saviour The promise He gave. With joy and salvation, The Victor on earth, 'Mid heaven's adoration, In glory comes forth. The seal hath been broken, the stone rolled away, The watchers have all fled in awe and dismay: Hell itself is trembling. Hallelujah! 2 The victory was glorious, Now darkness must flee; The light was victorious, And ever shall be. Now death is o'erpowered, And faith doth revive; And hope on us showered, And hearts made alive. Ye sorrowing women, whom seek ye now here? The Saviour now liveth! Allay then your fear: Christ Jesus is risen. Hallelujah! 3 Thus earth was with heaven Through Christ reconciled; And joy shall be given The penitent child. Ye friends who once bended Your heads 'neath the cross, Rejoice! they are ended Your sorrows and woes! Thou scatteréd flock that for guidance dost yearn, He liveth, thy Shepherd, to Him now return: He guideth thee ever. Hallelujah! 4 'Mid foes that alarm us, His church stands secure: No evil can harm us, His Word shall endure. Lo! to all the nations, To friend and to foe, With courage and patience His messengers go, And tell of the Saviour who dies for our sin, And rose from the dead, and now liveth again, The first-fruits of glory. Hallelujah! 5 Believers befriended, Why do ye lament? The day is soon ended, The night is soon spent. The grace shall embrace you, And you shall find rest; The Saviour shall raise you, To live and be blest. He soweth the grain, and He cometh at last; And truly the tares from the wheat He shall cast, And gather the harvest. Hallelujah! Topics: Easter Used With Tune: HVAD LJUS ÖFVER GRIFTEN!

The Savior Is Risen

Author: Frans M. Franzén; Ernst W. Olson, 1870-1958 Appears in 5 hymnals Hymnal Title: The Cyber Hymnal First Line: The Savior is risen, light bursts from the tomb Lyrics: 1 The Savior is risen, light bursts from the tomb; The living fulfillment of Scripture is come. Adored by the angels, the Victor comes forth To claim for His kingdom the ransomed on earth. The seal has been broken, the stone rolled away, And fled are the watchers in fear and dismay; Hell trembles before Him. Hallelujah. 2 Light grappled with darkness, death wrestled with life; Now light comes triumphant from out the dread strife. While death lieth vanquished, hope kindles again The torch of the faithful to shine among men. Ye sorrowing women who hither have sped, Why seek ye the living today ’mongst the dead? For Jesus is risen. Hallelujah. 3 Now God in His Heaven and man are at one, The grave is a pathway, through Christ, to the throne. Ye friends that are bending in grief at the cross, Now lift your heads gladly, ye suffered no loss. O flock, scattered widely, return to the fold: Thy Shepherd still liveth, and now as of old, He leadeth thee God-ward. Hallelujah. 4 ’Mid storms and upheavals His Church stands secure. The truth of His Gospel shall ever endure. Lo! unto all peoples His message shall speed, Proclaiming ’mid turmoil the Lord’s mighty deed, Proclaiming the Savior who died for all men, And, having arisen, now liveth again, Firstfruits of the sleeping. Hallelujah. 5 Then weep not, ye faithful, yield not to despair: The night soon is over, the day shall appear. Tho’ earth shall embrace you when death lays you low, The seed of His sowing to harvests will grow; And soon shall the Sower return to His field With angels to gather its heavenly yield, From evil tares severed. Hallelujah. Used With Tune: [The Savior is risen, light bursts from the tomb]
