Christmas Day

Author: Julia Harriette Johnston Appears in 2 hymnals Hymnal Title: The Cyber Hymnal First Line: Christmas Day! O happy measure Refrain First Line: Happy day, happy day Lyrics: 1. Christmas Day! O happy measure, How its songs and pulses thrill! How its greetings and its treasure All our hearts with gladness fill! Let the winds of winter, blowing, Toss the snowflakes in the air; Sunlight in the heart is glowing, Christmas Day is always fair. Refrain Happy day, happy day, Full of light and heav’nly love, Hear us sing, heav’nly King, Grateful songs to Thee above; All the way, all the way, Let us sing our song of cheer, Joyous Christmas now is here, Christmas Day! 2. Christmas Day, with joy unfailing, Comes to bring us nearer Christ; To this earth, o’er sin prevailing, He has brought the gift, unpriced: Coming from the heav’nly city, Leaving yonder throne and crown, In His tenderness and pity, Jesus brought salvation down. [Refrain] 3. Hail, all hail the heav’nly Stranger, Peace on earth He came to bring; Cradled in a lowly manger, Yet our Savior, Lord and King. Gladsome day, lift up your voices, Sing with joy the Christmas song; Heav’n above with earth rejoices, Praise Him with yon shining throng. [Refrain] Used With Tune: [Christmas Day! O happy measure]
