46. Laboring for the Master

1 Laboring for the Master,
Toiling from day to day;
Joyfully doing each duty,
Passing along life’s way,
Scattering blessed sunshine,
Cheerfully, kind and true;
Lovingly serving the Saviour,
Ever among the few.
Laboring for the Master,
Cheerfully, kind and true;
In God’s wonderful vineyard,
We all may find work to do.

2 Golden and ripe the harvest,
Ready to garner in;
Souls that are weary with wand’ring,
Over the fields of sin,
Patiently work for Jesus,
Heed not the world’s renown;
See how his hand to the lost ones
Tenderly reacheth down.
Laboring for the Master,
Heed not the world’s renown;
Let us gather the jewels,
Bright gems for the Saviour’s crown.

3 Follow the blessed Master,
Trust in the living Lord;
If on the earth we are faithful,
Great will be our reward;
When we are called up higher,
This be our greeting blest;
“Servants of mine, good and faithful,
Enter ye into rest.”
Laborers for the Master,
This be our greeting blest,
“Servants, ye have been faithful,
Now enter ye into rest.”
