We bring you, Lord, our prayer and praise

Author: Timothy Dudley-Smith (b. 1926) Hymnal: Ancient and Modern #571a (2013) Meter: 8.6.8.6 Hymnal Title: Ancient and Modern Lyrics: 1 We bring you, Lord, our prayer and praise that every child of earth should live and grow in freedom's ways, in dignity and worth. 2 We praise for such a task begun to serve each other's need, for every cause of justice won, for every fetter freed. 3 Our prayers are for a world in pain where force and fear prevail, the plough becomes the sword again, and hope and harvests fail. 4 Alike our prayer and praise express the wants of humankind, that those in bondage and distress their larger freedoms find. 5 So may we still maintain the fight till earth's oppressions cease before the universal right to liberty and peace. 6 In Christ we learn to love and care and spread his truth abroad; and in his Name we lift our prayer: 'Your kingdom come, O Lord.' O changeless Christ, for ever new

Author: Timothy Dudley-Smith (b. 1926) Hymnal: Ancient and Modern #740 (2013) Meter: 8.6.8.6 Hymnal Title: Ancient and Modern Lyrics: 1 O changeless Christ, for ever new, who walked our earthly ways, still draw our hearts as once you drew the hearts of other days. 2 As once you spoke by plain and hill or taught by shore and sea, so be today our teacher still, O Christ of Galilee. 3 As wind and storm their Master heard and his command fulfilled, may troubled hearts receive your word, the tempest-tossed be stilled. 4 And as of old to all who prayed your healing hand was shown, so be your touch upon us laid, unseen but not unknown. 5 In broken bread, in wine outpoured, your new and living way proclaim to us, O risen Lord, O Christ of this our day. 6 O changeless Christ, till life is past your blessing still be given; then bring us home, to taste at last the timeless joys of heaven. Topics: Wholeness and Healing; Future hope; Healing; Heaven; Holy Communion; Jesus Life and Ministry; Jesus Teaching Scripture: Mark 4:35-41 Languages: English Tune Title: WILTSHIRE

Through all the changing scenes of life

Author: Nahum Tate (1652-1715); Nicholas Brady (1659-1726) Hymnal: Ancient and Modern #812 (2013) Meter: 8.6.8.6 Hymnal Title: Ancient and Modern Lyrics: 1 Through all the changing scenes of life, in trouble and in joy, the praises of my God shall still my heart and tongue employ. 2 O magnify the Lord with me, with me exalt his name; when in distress to him I called, he to my rescue came. 3 The hosts of God encamp around the dwellings of the just; deliverance he affords to all who on his succour trust. 4 O make but trial of his love, experience will decide how blest are they, and only they, who in his truth confide! 5 Fear him, ye saints, and you will then have nothing else to fear; make you his service your delight, your wants shall be his care. 6 To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, the God whom we adore, be glory, as it was, is now, and shall be evermore. Great God, how infinite art Thou!

Author: Watts Hymnal: Church Book #68 (1890) Meter: 8.6.8.6 Hymnal Title: Church Book Lyrics: 1 Great God, how infinite art Thou! How frail and weak are we! Let the whole race of creatures bow, And pay their praise to Thee. 2 Thy throne eternal ages stood, Ere earth or heaven was made; Thou art the ever-living God, Were all the nations dead. 3 Nature and time all open lie To thine immense survey, From the formation of the sky, To the last awful day. 4 Eternity, with all its years, Stands present to Thy view. To Thee there's nothing old appears; To Thee there's nothing new. 5 Great God, how infinite art Thou! How frail and weak are we! Let the whole race of creatures bow, And pay their praise to Thee. Topics: God His Majesty and Greatness Languages: English Tune Title: WILTSHIRE
